The Center for faith-based and community learning located in Charlottesville, Virginia wishes to announce that all Servsafe Manager and Servsafe Food Handler Classes are free for the month of 

"Jan 2022 only"! www.rbc-institute.org (This course is free to the disadvantaged and those who can not afford to pay right now) It is our hope that those who can afford to pay will do so, thus making more slots

available to those in great need right now due to COVID 19 or other challenges) 

Once a year RBC Institute has a commitment to providing this service to the local communities we serve all year long. the communities are Charlottesville, Richmond, Fredericksburg, Lynchburg, and Roanoke, VA, including the counties and cities nearby within fifty miles.

To take advantage of this opportunity for a free Servsafe Manager Food Safety class as required by the Virginia health code you must sign up this month, and pay the $36 seat number fee. There are two ways to register, (1) on this page click on "Registration Form", and fill in the requested information, or (2) text your name and email address to Chef Ralph Brown Sr at (434) 242-9984.

You will receive an invoice for the class (discount applied) you pay the $36 online, choose the date of the class you wish to join in your city, and you are automatically registered for the class. The registration is good for up to ninety days, and you can register multiple persons up to five people per class. 

This discount only applies to our regular scheduled monthly class already on our calendar. Please look at our website calendar scrolling on this page for those dates, also you may call or email Chef Brown for more information.

SERVSAFE MANAGER CLASSES / AUGUST 2021

The Center for faith-based and community learning located in Charlottesville, Virginia has a number of Servsafe Manager Food Safety Classes scheduled across the Commonwealth of VA for the month of August 2021. These classes meet the code requirements for those persons seeking to open their own restaurant, food truck, or to just work a management job at your local restaurant.

We have our regularly scheduled class for Charlottesville scheduled for Thursday, August 12 at the Enterprise Center at 401 East Market Street. We also have a two days of class scheduled for Lynchburg, VA at the Residence Inn by Marriott, 2630 Wards Rd. Lynchburg, VA 24502

Then last but not least we are going to the Tidewater Area, to Hampton , at 20 West Mercury Blvd, Hampton, VA 23669. You can come on Wednesday or Thursday, the class is only eight hours, with a online exam given at the end of the day. Please bring your laptop if you have one, otherwise one will be provided for you.

You get certified the same day, and the Servsafe Manager Certificate expires in five years, at which time you must retest to renew.

City Sponsored Virtual Servsafe Food Handler Class / Successful

The Center for faith-based and community learning located in Charlottesville, Virginia and 

Chef Ralph Brown Sr successfully coordinated a Virtual Servsafe Food Handler Class last week

on behalf of the City of Charlottesville. Half of the students who completed this class are now ready

to move on to the next level and take the Servsafe Manager Food Safety Class. The Servsafe Manager  course is required to own and / operate a food truck or restaurant in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

This was a great experience for the students, kind of like getting an associates degree before going

on to a four year bachelors degree. It prepared them in a very real way for what is to come in both the Servsafe Manager Class and in their own future businesses.

Safety Classes all ready for you in this new year. 

Our February class is on Monday, Feb 4, 2021, and then starting in March every second Thursday

of each month through the month of June 2021. So please "mark your calendar", and plan ahead, we look forward to seeing you.

We are located in the Enterprise Center Building, 401 East Market St,

in beautiful downtown Charlottesville, Va 22902. 

This Servsafe Manager class is a one day, eight hour class with an

the
Servsafe Manager Class on Wednesday, March 18, and Wednesday, March 25, 2020, 9-6 pm. 
Servsafe Manager Classes are held every month at this location in downtown Charlottesville, VA.

The cost of the class is $175, which includes the class and certificate upon completion which will

be sent to you via email once you pass the class.

This is a one day (8) hour class with and exam at the end of the day, you get certificates the same day,

Special fixed Rate / August 2018

The Center for faith-based and community learning located in Charlottesville, Virginia announces special rate for the month of August 2018. We have a new website www.rbc-institute.org we just launched, and to celebrate we are offering a fixed rate for anyone who has viewed both this site and that one prior to the 10th of August.

The fixed rate if you register on this page using the registration form is $100 for the class, and $50 to proctor the exam only for persons who can prove they have taken the ServSafe@ Manager course before. 

After August 10th the fixed rate will be $136 and $86 with the same proof of re-certification. To take advantage of this fixed rate program you must register and pay any invoice sent to you for that rate prior to selected class.

Spanish ServSafe Classes /Coming soon & changes to VA law.

The  Center for faith-based and community learning located in Charlottesville, VA announces new ServSafe@ Manager classes in Spanish every month through Dec 2018. These classes will be held the last workday of each month starting June 29, 2018 at  CIC / office, in the Citizens Commonwealth Center, 300 Preston Ave, Charlottesville, VA. 22903.

"Foodborne illness and alcohol-related problems are major threats to your businesses and customers. That's why the National Restaurant Association (NRA) created ServSafe@ programs nearly 40 years ago. This is a direct quote from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation,  "The Most Respected Training and Certification Source in the Industry".

There are changes coming in the law for "Certified Food Protection Manager requirement effective July 1, 2018. Under 12VAC5-421-55 of the Virginia Food Regulations, all food establishments, including temporary food establishments (TFEs), are required to have a certified food protection manager no later than July 1, 2018. Certain establishments may be exempt based on their menu and processes".

Our ServSafe@ Manager Food Safety class is a one day (8) hour class with the online exam given at the end of the day. Certificates are available the same day, but must be renewed in five years. Students are asked to bring their own laptop, however one will be provided for you.

Richmond dates / "Coming Soon"

The Center for faith-based and community learning located in Charlottesville, Virginia announcing very soon the dates for our ServSafe@ Manager Food Safety Classes in Richmond every month through December 2018.

We received the royal treatment at the Richmond Downtown Marriott, so we are even more excited about coming back to the City every month.

However, this time we are going to be checking out the all new Courtyard by Marriott /Richmond. In the historic section of the City of Richmond this will be a real treat, and place to see the sights and eat great food.

Two of the Courtyard employees were in our last class, so we are looking forward to completing our mission on have all of the Management and the Executive Chef Certified and all up to date on their ServSafe@ Certifications.
